The only way to make the internet work was to disconnect and reconnect every time this occurred which was a real pain.
The wi-fi connection remained connected but would show the status as “No Internet”. The adapter was able to connect to the 2.4 Ghz just fine but the main issue was even though it was connected it kept dropping the connection frequently after every few minutes. It can only detect the 2.4 Ghz wi-fi signal out of the two signals (2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz) which the ARRIS SURFboard SBG6900AC router broadcasts. The Dell XPS 10 currently run the Windows 10 OS and had the Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 1000 wifi built-in adapter which is a single band adapter. But for now, the laptop became a blocker for my work as it did not work well with the new ARRIS SURFboard SBG6900AC router.
It is a pretty old for a laptop but it has served me well and still continues to be of use until my needs change. The new router worked flawlessly after it was provisioned from the Xfinity customer support on all of my smart phones, tablets and even Google home except for my age-old Dell XPS 15 from 2011. Recently I brought a new ARRIS SURFboard SBG6900AC Docsis 3.0 modem router combo to replace my Xfinity wi-fi modem router to save rental costs.
